Based in Lakeland, FL, Ferrera Tooling is a precision manufacturing company serving the aerospace, entertainment, and packaging industries. Its capabilities include high-precision machining, engineering support, and precision assembly, with work performed to demanding quality standards such as AS9100 and ITAR requirements.
As a Quality Control Technician, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand how dimensional accuracy and attention to detail influence the performance of a finished product. Working in this environment has strengthened my appreciation for the manufacturing side of engineering and for the importance of designing parts that can be produced, inspected, and verified reliably.

It has reinforced the importance of avoiding shortcuts, taking ownership of my work, and maintaining high standards even in the smallest details. Role Description
Verify and perform in-process, first article, and final inspections in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal procedures and customer requirements.
Support initiatives aimed at reducing defects, improving inspection efficiency, and enhancing product quality.
Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace standards, including AS9100 requirements.
Key Accomplishments
Conducting root-cause analysis and coordinating corrective actions with other teams to prevent recurrence on future production runs.
Developing custom workholding fixtures to improve setup efficiency, repeatability, and part stability during inspection.
Revising inspection plans to ensure measurement methods accurately reflect drawing requirements, tolerances, and critical dimensions.
Writing code-based routines to streamline documentation of nonconformances, reworks, and geometric measurement data.
Learning Outcomes
Design for Manufacturability:
Understanding how tolerancing, geometry, inspection requirements, and manufacturing processes influence cost, producibility, and functional performance.
Quality & Dimensional Control:
Developing a stronger understanding of how inspection methods, GD&T, and measurement accuracy are used to verify that parts meet engineering requirements.
Root-Cause Problem Solving:
Using inspection data and production feedback to identify sources of nonconformance and support correction actions that reduce recurrence.
Precision & Attention to Detail:
Learning the importance of consistency, thoroughness, and small design of manufacturing details when working with high-tolerance components.
Systems-Level Thinking:
Recognizing how small dimensional nonconformances can affect fit, assembly, performance, and reliability at the system level.
